I often hear something or have a conversation that leaves me mulling over things. Sometimes, I don't even hear it, I read it. Then my little mind goes spinning round and round with ideas and thoughts on the subject matter. Yesterday, during a conversation, I had to pause my friend and remind her of the Sunday School song - be careful little eyes what you see... I woke up this morning with that thought still swirling around the fringes of my mind.
Therefore, it was time to do some research. I googled to my heart's content things like:
What does the Bible say about being careful what you see?
What you hear?
What you say?
What you do?
Where you go?
Whom you trust?
What you think?
All the things the little song warns us and reminds us to be careful of. Obviously I found many scriptures. That's the thing though, don't you think? That when you go seeking knowledge on something through the eyes of the Lord, He guides you to what he has already said time and time again. We sure are a stubborn, hard-headed lot.
For some reason this also made me consider a book I've been reading. Here's a fun fact about me, I do not like "open door" scenes in a book. I don't need to read about the couple doing the deed. I just don't. However, there are a lot of really good stories out there that contain that within them. I am the type of reader who when I come to that scene in the book, I skip right over it and keep going. I want the story - not the hanky panky.
I understand many readers may not do that and it could be considered playing with fire. Therefore, some of us, myself included, are seeing/reading things that do not benefit their faith. Things that damage their faith. I have read some vulgar things and I'm positive my faith took a punch it didn't need from it. One way to know for sure that you shouldn't be seeing, hearing, saying, doing, going, trusting, or thinking something is if you find yourself feeling ashamed or guilty that you did. That's the Holy Spirit saying, "Hey, you know the Father would not approve of this and you are risking your eternity with it".
I don't know about you but I don't really care to risk my eternity like that. It doesn't mean that I haven't or that I won't again, but I don't want to. So I find it behooving to take heed to the cautionary warnings God gives us throughout his word. He didn't say the things he did for nothing, nor did he repeat them simply for us to ignore.

We each need to put on the armor of God daily to help us fight against the challenges of all that our little eyes, ears, mouth, hands, feet, heart and mind get caught up in. Shenanigans are abound and easily slipped into, that is why we are cautioned again and again. Any little crack in your armor can allow a snake to slither inside and create chaos from the inside out.
It is so very easy to slip. Please be careful. Guard your eyes, ears, mouth, hands, feet, heart and mind with the word of God. Let him guide you through the challenges and pick you up and dust you off each time you slip up. He wants to. He loves you more than you or I will ever be able to fathom. He will forgive you, but you must try very hard not to repeat the offense over and over, because that isn't true repentence. That's saying, "I'm gonna do what I do and God will forgive me no matter what or how many times I do it."
I don't know about you but when my trust has been broken or you've burned a bridge with me, I'm very cautious to trust or believe you again and God knows every action, thought, or decision you're gonna make before you ever do it. He knows if you are truly repentant. So be cautious my friends. Guard your eyes, ears, mouth, hands, feet, heart and mind and let God guide you through it all.
All my love,
Tonya
